Biodynamic Wine

The production of biodynamic wine is based on the work of Rudolf Steiner and incorporates organic practices but also philosophy and cosmology. It views vineyards (including the air and soil), planet Earth and the cosmos as all inter-connected. Vineyard activities are timed to coincide with the cycles of the planets, moon and stars and homeopathic preparations are used to support the life forces in the vineyard, fertilise the soil, treat disease and keep pests away. Like organic wines, not all wines designated biodynamic are certified, but where the producer follows biodynamic practices they will work without chemicals other than copper and sulphur and use organically-grown grapes.
