Welcome to Oh Grape!
Put that sparkling water down and grab yourself a glass of something a bit more juicy...
Me and the beginnings of the Oh Grape story
I’ve enjoyed wine since my days at university (albeit some very questionable bottles), though I first I fell in love with it when a colleague hosted a wine tasting at work - thanks Jane!
For the first time it struck me that when I was drinking wine I was tasting not just a delicious glass of fermented grape juice, but a culmination of the history, geography, culture and cuisine of the place in which the wine was made. Each and every single bottle of wine takes you on a new adventure… and I wanted to delve deeper. I signed up for a Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) course that same day to learn more.
A few years (and many, many glasses of wine) later, with WSET Levels 2 and 3 under my belt, I decided to launch Oh Grape.
What’s up with the New World?
New World wines are those that are produced outside the traditional wine regions of Europe and the Middle East. The 'New' in New World is a bit of a misnomer, as wine has been made in some New World wine regions for hundreds of years! But it's a useful way to differentiate between the different wine growing areas in the world and the styles of wine that they produce.
What attracted me to New World wine is just how beautiful, approachable and wallet-friendly they can be. New World wine has a lot to shout about, and I started Oh Grape to help other thirsty wine drinkers discover the tastiest that is on offer.
Oh Grape’s starting line up includes wines from Argentina, Chile, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and the USA, but in the future I hope to bring you new and exciting wines from other New World countries that are off the average UK wine drinker's radar, such as Canada, Ecuador and Brazil.
Why choose Oh Grape?
