Classic Grenache red fruit and spice characters, with intensity and concentration from old vines. The tannins are ripe and silky, the fruit lifted and irresistible.
Meet the maker: The Other Wine Co.
Region: McLaren Vale, South Australia โ Australia
Grape(s): Grenache (100%)
13.5% ABV / 750ml / Vegetarian / Vegan
Viticulture:
Grapes are sourced from a dry-grown vineyard in Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale where the low yielding 45-year-old vines are planted in predominantly sandy soils.
The 2019 growing season was one that challenged even the most experienced vignerons. Those that made the most of it produced small crops of very clean fruit with wonderful flavour and intensity.
Winemaking:
The fruit was hand-picked at optimal ripeness to achieve a balance of acidity and the bright fruit characters of Grenache.
It was then sorted before partially destemming (10% whole bunches).
The different parcels were fermented separately in open stainless-steel fermenters and then basket pressed.
Maturation took place in concrete tanks and older large format oak for six months. The wine spent minimal time in oak to ensure that the brightness and vibrancy of fruit was maintained.
ย The wine was then bottled in September 2019.
