Red Soil Select Pinot Noir, 2017
A Pinot Noir with earthy autumn berry aromas, mouth-watering flavours of bramble, chocolate and plum, and a little bit of spice.
Meet the maker: Manos Negras
Region: Rio Negra, Patagonia - Argentina
Grape(s): Pinot Noir (100%)
14% ABV / 750ml / Vegetarian / Vegan / Organic
Viticulture:
Rio Negro has Patagonia’s most unique soil profile, with bright red, iron rich clay soils throughout the vineyard which is located on a river bank with different soil textures up and down the embankment.
There are patches of brighter red soils in the vineyard which are very low in organic material and very high in iron mineral content. Their poor nutrient profile naturally lowers fruit yields and ensure exceptional concentration of aromas and flavours in the grapes.
This wine is made entirely from selected Pinot Noir grapes from these patches of bright red soils.
Winemaking:
Gentle destemming, cold maceration for two days and whole berry fermentation with natural yeasts at a maximum temperature of 22°C. There is extensive punching down for the first seven days of the 12-day fermentation. The wine is aged in old French oak for 12 months.
